A Trip To Brunei

Image
Sometimes when you have lost somebody, and you need to find him, all you need to do is to make a contact to the other somebody and insyaallah you will find that somebody that you seach. This was what had happened to me when I try to find my Bruneian friend, Hassan. I try to find him in the facebook but failed. I have lost all the contact infos of my Bruneian friends. What did I do? Yes, I contacted my friend in Miri and I was confident that he can resolve my problem. When I called him, he promised to return my call. Few minutes later I got the number of Dr Hj Ibrahim. Then Dr Ibrahim navigated me to find Hassan phone number. It happened few days before I left for Brunei. Here we were in Brunei meeting Hassan and his boys. Ooppsss....I asked Nandy to accompany me to feel the vibrant of Brunei.

Prawn.. Masak Lemak Cili Padi

Image
My friends Nandy and Yus asked me to join them fishing prawn. Hhhmmm not that my real hobby and I can ensure that I ended up catching nothing! I love fishing anyway but I have to sharpen my skill. Never mind...you can go but bring me few kilos to cook for you. I would expect them to bring at least 3 kilos when they would spend for the whole day. I kept on messaging them to know the quantity of the catch. They remained quite but I thougt the result must be bad. I forwarded another message to buy cili padi. To start cooking was not a problem and it would be a simple recepi. After isyak they came without Yus and with 8 numbers of cili padi for rm1. Wow this was too expensive. I thougt of 3kilos but the catch was a quarter kilo. Hhhmmmm.......I went to the kitchen and within 30 minutes, everything was ready. Masak lemak cili padi, friend mackarel and squilt curry....

Getting Away With It

Image
Is it that simple to get away with it? No! We cannot get away with it but we have to deal with it and whatever decision let's make it rest in peace. This is about life and live. I just started reading a new book. Still crawling to get to the centre of the book. The only time I managed to continue my reading is after come back from a mosque i.e before my eyes start getting tired and sailing to a sound sleeping. The other time is during the weekend when I am so free to do nothing. I woukd expect to complete my reading in a month? Hey...am I too ambitious? Or do I need to re-assess my judgement? Hhhmmm.....never mind....let me chase the deadline.

I Missed Him

Image
I missed him so much. If I could fly, I would fly across the continents and sea tu hug him and to tell him we missed you so much. Do I need to do that? No.... I dont really feel melancholy to that extend. I let him go.... Be a good boy. Have the right thought and perception and learn how to live and survive. With whatsups, internet and modern technology, We dont feel the distance. We just like being refraining from the wall. I only need to say that take good care of yourself and Allah must always be in your heart.

Which One To Choose

Image
My quilting design had totally stopped since I moved to Bintulu. But the flame of my spirit never dies. I have plenty of quilt project that are waiting and I have to tackle one after the other. This weekend I am going to complete my previous design and then only I will be ready for the new one. My current job really take its toll out of me.... I am tired and drained....

Seafood

Image
Living in Bintulu might be boring if you dont know what to do. Basically everybody is stuck here. Within an hour you can cover the whole Bintulu. I just wonder what actually Bintulu can offer me? Hhmmm.....or should I say what I can offer to Bintulu? Yeah...that might be right. There are many things I can do in Bintulu so as not to waste my time. I already got a nice plan laid down. But I need to establish and turn my room into a studio! I present room only for short let and I am waiting for another house to be vacated. Then my whole idea and plan would run smoothly. First to have a table in my room. Then I need airconditioned room. Then I need special lighting in my room. Then it would be ok. With very fresh and abundance of seafood like fish, my kitten would be occupy regularly. No more eating outside and spending unnecessary time out there. Yes.....I love all the fishes....

Skateboard For Ikhlas

Image
Everytime when I returned home there were things demanded by my children. The only this was I can only fullfil one at a time and others should wait for their turns. It was not easy to say than done! Some can be very patience like Adah and some might show their tantrum like Yusuff. I have to play my role to mitigate all these issues. Yusuff demanded a bicycle from me but I knew that the bicycle wont last long. Within days everything would been torn apart. I have to cajole him by taking to McD for a lunch. And the promise for a bicyle might happen next month. The first part he must prove tha he could read before the nect school. He always argue with me bicycle first than he will learn how to read! Oh my god...he is demanding. I went to Bukit Bintang Plaza and find Ikhlas a skateboard. He had asked a very long time ago. But this would be his second skateboard. It is not cheap but expensive. I bought alsa pad guards for his arms and knees. So what Ikhlas is promising me for having the sc...

Similajau National Park

Image
Every weekend i need to plan something to get myself occupied and it is not that easy to make something that really enjoyable. Bintulu, Sarawak! What can you really expect. You turn here and there and you almost cover everything within a day. Then you need to make another plan to stay away from boredom. Yesterday I asked cikgu Rodi whether he would like to go to similajau. I was there 14 years ago and I could imagine how mesmerise and tranquil the place would be. The river, the thick rain forest, the sandy beach and the sound of waves. He agreed to accompany me and would like to bring his roomate along. The more the merrier. Then I gave cikgu Rodi few ringgit for him to prepare nasi goreng and any other things that came to his mind. As promised, I picked up them at Surau Alshakirin and straight away drove to the National Park. Ooo.....I forgot that we must pay a fee of rm10 each. The Park still remained the same. Not much change from my years of visit. It would be nice and better if...

Art Expo Malaysia 2013

Image
It was an opportunity for me to bring my children for the Art Expo. About 28 countries participated and the paintings were marvelous. The price ranges from rm2000 to rm350,000. That must be very expensive for me. However, I just wonder how on earth people still can effort to by them. There are many international art collector out there in the market. I love to see the painting by Nik and his talent is magnificent. There were paintings by the chinese artist that attacted my attention as well. Cute potraits and characters. I have to make another trip on friday just to bring Ikhlas and Shamim. Let they enjoy the beautiful painting and all the hard and patience works by the artists.

Bon Voyage

Image
All of us went to KLIA airport to send Ubai to UK. Right after isyak solat everybody was preparing to the airport. Ubai was in a car with me. I have so many things I need to tell him. What are the dos and dones. Mean while ummi, grandma and all the small kids were in the other car. We promised to meet each other at the departure area. Wan Lah will go with his friends from Sri Petaling to the airport. We try to be at the airport early try to avoid the long queue. But my thought was a mistake. There were already many people queuing at the check in counter for the Emirates. He seemed not really recognise the people who were boarding the same flight. Anyway, it did not really matter Ubai has to learn how to live and survive. I met Winnie and her friends after the check in and wished Ubai all the best. I thanked them for their undevided assistance during the whole process. Hhhmmm....I thought I was going to cry when ee departed each other. Time to go was already near and we managed for phot...

Stamp Collection

Image
Today is another busy day for me. Ubai, Wan, Hadi and myself went to Lowyat to buy computer. I dont know how many more computer that they want. I only wanted to buy a power bank for my handphone. Then I told Ubai and Wan to wait for the computer until installation completed and I walked to the car. I told Hadi to be in the car while I need to go to a stamp shop. I used to be here for a while to browse new and old stamps. My passion for stamps never ending since when I was small. Perhaps one of my girl really keen enough to get my hobby going...

Ikan Terubuk

Image
Isnin lepas aku saja jalan jalan kat pasar melayu. Memang niat nak belibikan tenggiri untuk dibawa pulang. Pusing punya pusing nampakbikan terubuk yang tersangat segar bugar. Harga sekilo adalah rm25 and local bintulu.

I Missed Kebab

Image
I missed kebab I would say. I am not fussy about food. When come to food I really concern about the halal status especially when you are in overseas where non muslim majority. It is not that easy to get abundance of food like here, Malaysia. Once I was in Austria in Ramadhan 2006, we were searching for food. We walk endlessly to find local mosque for iftar and were lucky enough to find Turkish Mosque. We were told that kebab was halal and prepared by muslim company. Started from that day I only devoured kebab. When I was in Munich last month, kebab was my staple food. Almost everyday I ate kebab. I stopped by at the Osbenholf station and picked up a kebab and having it in my hotel room. Now I really feel that I missed kebab very much.

My Lunch For Today

Image
Everything about eating outside and I am getting bored. The expensive price is one issue but the food never satisfied to my taste. Its gonna be a boring life for another 16 months to come. So, what am I supposed yo do? I already have my plans laid down on the table. Few I can do it now but others I got yo wait until my new home is ready. Have to be patience for a time being. This morning I was planning to go to the fish market. It was raining from last night until the morning. I saw the fish in the fridge and it worth to make a curry. I checked the available ingredients and jotted down the remaing required ingredients. I start the car and drove to the town and purchased lemon grass, few spices etc to make a perfect fish curry. Now it is ready to be served.....

The Late Evening

Image
I came back from work at 6.00 p.m. Normally I never work on weekend and I hate to spend time in the office. My weekend must be my holy holy day. Since with my new assignment demand extra hour for me to tidy up few issues and jouse keeping I got no other choice? I drove home reluctantly and was thinking what should I do today. When I arrived home everything was so quiet. My friend was in his room and another roomate has not returned home.. Hhhmmmm.... I yhink better rest and having a shot nap while waiting for maghrib. I was turning left to right and right to left but my eyes were just could not close. Aiyooo...... I woke up and try to get down the stairs and mety friend just woke up. He asked me whether to ho to Pasar Melayu. I replied ok. We drove for 15 minutes and we reached the place. I thought it was like pasar malam, instead it just a delipidated wet market. I walk around and found out that the fish quite fresh and cheap especially ikan tenggiri. Is it baracuda?? Anyway my frie...

Staying In Bintulu

Image
This is my second week in Bintulu. What should I say about my new assignment? Hhhmmmm.....let me tell you how I am going to work and back from work. Bintulu is totally different from 14 years ago when I first came here. I never thought that I would ever return again to this isolated town. But now this is not a quite town but full of people from all over the world just because continuous project ftom MLNG. I normally leave home at 6.30 and return home after 6.30. Almost 12 hours I have spend for my project. In other words i left home when it was dark and returned home when it has already dark. Life has changed and it eould not change forever. Since being alone without family like a flying butterfly, I think I still can sustain my and managing my little time.....

Walimatulurus Buat Aris

Image
Aku drive round and round sebab sebab misunderstood about the instruction. Aku pun tanya Aris berapa lama cuti. Dengan senyum simpul dia menjawap seminggu. Oklah tu...kita kasi can dekat dia....

Walnut Layered Cake

Image
I always tell my chilren about my childhood life to my children and my student life. It is good to reminisce the good and the bad experiences to them. One of my fond memories is having almond layered cake during my weekend grocery in UK. Shopping is tiring but interesting. I told my wife before I left for Munich and London to bring her Walnut Layered Cake. I was not sure whether it is around since I had left UK almost 25 years ago. I rememembered going to Mark & Spencer purposely to buy this cake. For me, the taste was nice and always filled my stomach prior to my cooking time for the weekend. When I arrived London last week, I took opportunity to go to M&S to get the cake. I was hesitated whether the cake was still available. I went to the basement and searching for the cake and thank god it was there. I never imagined that I would have a similar cake after 25 years! When I arrived home I showed my family about the cake. It seemed that nobody was interested with it. When I ...

Raisin Beef Fried Rice

Image
I am having a very late lunch now. This morning after breakfast at the restaurant I drove around Bintulu and leading towards town. My thought was to roam around the fish market and trying to figure out what would be the best activities for me to manage while staying in Bintulu for one an a half years. I was here 14 years ago but Bintulu has been turned into a magnificient changes. Now you can enjoy many local restaurants with varieties of delicious menu. One of it that I discovered was raisin beef fried rice. This is my second time I ate at similar restaurant. The taste is great and different with little sweetness erupted from raisins and the beef that was cut into cubes. I think I can improve the version better by replacing a cgicken and with a little smack of chilli padi. That must be awesome!
