Ha Long Bay

We woke up early and prepared to go to Ha Long Bay. While waiting in the lobby area, as I was engrossed writing and update my blog, the tour guide came in and greeted us good morning. Yeah....we were ready to go. Everything was packed nicely especially our cameras.

In the bus, the tour guide gave an introduction of Vietnam, Hanoi City and Ha Long Bay. The journey by bus was about 3 to 4 hours depended on traffic condition. Do you know that the speed limit for vehicles is 80km/hour? It is really slow. No wonder the time taken more that what we expected. We were also told that the motorcycles were half population of Vietnam. Why? People cannot afford to buy cars because of import duty and luxury tax imposed by the government. Toyota Campry easily reach $75,000.00 with taxes. With a salary of $100 per month no wsy majority of the people affort to own a car. That was the reason why motorbike is famous in Vietnam.

Sorry for a short break! We stopped at midway to Ha Long Bay for toilet and relexation at one of the largest craft house which I narrated earlier about the intricate embroidery design. The ride was not smooth after that because of the road condition. Finally about 1.30 pm we reached the jetty to ride a small ferry or junk to bring us around the limestone islands. I dont know the actual number of the island. Food was served and we were sharing with other visitors for convinience. We were there about 4 hours on the water. The scenery was amazing and registered as one of the world heritage by UNESCO. The ferry just brought us into small circle only. It would be better if the could bring us much deeper inside within the vicinity of the islands.

We arrived at the hotel about 9.00pm and our feet cannot trudge further anymore. It was the time to go to bed know.
